Deciphering Bentley wiring diagrams...
:dunno: I've got a headache. I've been a DIYer for 20 years, but this is my first BMW. Ouch! How do you read the Bentley wiring diagram? All I want to know is the tail light wire color-code/functions. Nowhere are they listed turn signal, brakes, running light on the same page. Something's wrong when the wiring diagrams take 200 pages!! The wiring diagrams on the C-130's that I used to maintain weren't this complicated ;-)
Any hints are appreciated.

Interesting that you blame Bently and not BMW. :D I suppose it is possible that Bentley made the diagrams unnecessarily complicated, but I kind of doubt it.

If it were me, I would try reading them after the third beer. They might make more sense that way.

The majority of the time, there's no direct answer for that. Pin number and color code are easy; they're there on the diagrams. Function? Sometimes there's really no way to know, especially since so many of them are 'black-boxed' and BMW doesn't want to tell you.

Sometimes, tracing that wire through to whatever's on the other end helps. Light wiring on a E46 generally centralizes back to the LCM in the dash. Good thing about that is that we've already figured that part out.

So I haven't developed Alzhimer's yet... whew! I was worried. Is there a DIY posted anywhere? I've searched several sites w/ no luck on color-codes. Otherwise I'll just pull out the light probe, but I had hoped the Bentley would provide a little more value for the $$.
