digital climate control
digital climate control 1996 sedan 328i
seems dead ..nobody home then it flickers and works for a bit ...then dead..
where do I start to look for the problem ...or loose connecter

can I replace with manual control ?
never liked ANY climate control that thought it
knew more than me.. where the air should be.

You cannot replace the digital climate control with the analog unit without replacing the whole heater box, which requires taking apart half the interior. Total headache... To me, it sounds like your CC head unit (control module) is dead, and it isn't just a fuse or final stage unit. I'd look at replacing it with a used unit.

ZeG, is right.. its a pain in the ass to take apart the dash.

Check all associated connections first.. fuses, relays.. including the ones in the cabin.
Check the connections on the CC unit itself.

It sounds like You have a cracked, or disrupted connection.. if it flickers on/off
Perhaps the board in the CC unit itself needs to be re-flowed.

I just did the fix Bandita posted. Your exact symptoms. Worked like a charm. Easy if you have a little soldering skill.
