2001 z3 3.0 fuse box location?

The lights on my air condition switches are out. I want to check if it's a blown fuse. Where is the fuse box located besides the one under the hood. Thanks for your help.

The fuse box on the z4 is behind the glove box. Try there

Pop the switch and check the power to the bulb. Typically if this is the only problem and the switch is still working. ie turns the AC on, then the problem is a burned out bulb.

I should also mention. Be very carefull that you do not short out the bulb power contacts. if you do you blow the resistor in the light switch. My cable to my Lighted shift knob shorted out, took out my light switch resistor. Took me a while to diagnose that problem. So I'm just passing on my experience.

1: do you have to remove the glove box ? Or it's beneath the glove box?

2: thanks for the advice man. Everything works fine. All the surrounding lights. You might be right, it could be the bulb. Not looking forward to taking it apart for a bulb haha

Two screw removes the glovebox. Then the fuse panel is accessible. But again thi is on the z4 I'm just assuming the z3 is the same

You do know that you have to press on the switch for the light to come on right? If the AC is not on (running) the light on the switch wont come on. They don't come on with the rest of the other switches.

There is no other fuse box on the Z3.

Yeah both ac buttons come on fine when I push them. My concern are they turn switches. They look like they should like up ...am I wrong ?

That's just how it is. I agree with you, they should lite up just like the other ones, heated seats, ragtop etc. but someone at BMW decided other wise. :dunno:

Where in Cali are you? I'm up north in Fairfield just outside Travis AFB

No way, I would think they would. O'well.

I'm in southern California near orange county.

Both the AC & Recirc switch are dark, PITA to find at night.
Both light up when depressed.
This switch is difficult to disassemble and re-assemble. Some have done so, just to replace burned out light bulbs.
So it can be done. Not sure of the price. But being the Cheapo I would try first, then if it doesn't work out. Order and replace the switch.:dunno:

I'll give it a shot. Thanks

2001 Z3 3.0 fuse 48

Fuse box diagram under hood indicates aux 40 amp fuse for AC system blower is located under stearing column. Let me tell you it is well hidden!
Fan switch is dead. No signs of warn motor or switch problem. sudden failure on power up indicates that it is likely a fuse or a control module of some sort

I CAN NOT FIND FUSE 48 or 49

The car is a 2001 3.0 Z3

Can anyone help?

Thanks so much

Same problem on my 99 Z3 M coupe. Attempted to replace the bulb inside the switch without success. End up buying a/c switch in the BMW junkyard here in Rancho Cordoba.
Voila! A/c switch lights on. Problem resolved.

Any luck with fuse 48/49
