lowering car - affect on computer function?
I just leased a new 2012 535i with M sport package. Ive noticed the the car body sits about 3 inches or so above the tires (19 inch). Ive also noticed this differential is normal with this vehicle based upon other posts showing the picture of the car. I know there are springs (H&R) that can be purchased to replace the stock ones and once installed will lower the body up to 2 inches. Does anybody know if : (1) lowering the body will negate the warranty, and (2) if replacing the stock springs will cause the computer sensors to be affected or cause any engine performance issues. thank you in advance for your replies.
Keep in mind that on the GT, the rear height is controlled by the computer and the air springs...to lower that end, yes, you'd have to make some changes. On the front, don't know. If it isn't balanced, the headlights may not have enough range to adjust properly, either and dips and bumps may then damage things like the spoiler, etc.
To keep from bottoming out the suspension, if you lower it 2", you have to make the springs that much stiffer. All this for some looks? The stiffer suspension along with the RFT may make the vehicle more prone to wheel and tire damage, not even considering what it may do to the ride.
