2013 M Performance Package (ZMX)

Anyone know what this includes exactly? It's available on both the 35i Sport Activity and the 50i but requires ZMP. It lists:

767 M Performance Package
7XA M Sports leather sterring wheel with paddle shifters
Includes: stainless steel pedals and exhaust tips in black chrome

7XA is already included with the M Sport Package, not sure why it's listed under this one if it requires you to order the M Sport Package.

767 is this just the tuning bump (15hp for the 35i, 40hp for the 50i with 30ft/lbs for each) or does it include anything else?

Where did you obtain the 2013 X5 information?

ND40oz 02-25-2012 12:39 PM

Dealer, they have pricing for the 2013, production starts in April. If you order now, you should be ordering a 2013 unless it's a diesel. Can't find out any info on the 35d for 2013 model year.

Option 767 is the power bump though.

Darth GEM 02-25-2012 12:47 PM

Good to know, the sales advisor I am working with has no information on the 2013s. What dealership are you working with? I am looking to order an X5 50i for the wife, but I understand BMW has made changes to the options packages/ additions and deletions of equipment. In addition, I have heard they revised the front and rear bumpers.

ND40oz 02-25-2012 01:12 PM

As far as I can tell, the only thing that has changed between the 2012s and 2013s is the new ZMX Pack and they added Orion Silver as a color. I'm using Military Sales and the ordering and pricing guide is effective Feb. 2012.

Darth GEM 02-25-2012 01:44 PM

Do you know where to acquire a copy of the Military Sales and the ordering and pricing guide of an X5?

ND40oz 02-25-2012 02:23 PM

Your dealer should be able to provide the Ordering and Pricing Guide for you, you need it to actually pick your options when they put together your order.

Darth GEM 02-25-2012 02:27 PM

I just returned from a trip, so the pricing guide could have come out in the last two weeks, I will give him a call Monday to see if he has it. Thank you for the help.

ND40oz 02-25-2012 02:31 PM

No problem, they should have it, I believe they went out last Monday to the dealers. That's when I was told I could place an order, spent the week figuring out exactly what my wife wanted and placed it today.

Darth GEM 02-27-2012 03:05 PM

Look at the 2013 pricing guide, when you order the M Sport Package (ZMP) the 226 Sport suspensions is unavailable for the 50i, but available for the 35i Sport Activity. The only way to get the Sports suspension for the 50i is to order the M Performance Package (ZMX), which I believe, will consist of a tuned M like suspension. This is my perception.

ND40oz 02-28-2012 03:31 AM

ZMX doesn't change any suspensions according to BMW AG, I had my dealer check exactly what it consisted of which is in the first post.

ZMP adds option 220, the self-leveling suspension to the 50i. I believe the 50i is either available with the regular suspension if you order the base or ZAP or the self leveling if you order ZMP or the 3rd row seat (also adds option 220).

Your other option is to order 2VA and get Adaptive Drive. MSRP on it is only $2650 if you're already ordering ZMP, which you need to get to order ZMX anyway.

I guess the ultimate question is what does a consumer get with the M Performance Package at the cost of $1600?

On the X5 50i you get the engine specs bumped to 440 hp and 480 ft/lbs, the black chrome exhaust tips and the stainless pedals.

Darth GEM 02-28-2012 12:55 PM

Good deal, thanks for the info now to convince the wife to spend the extra money.

ND40oz 02-28-2012 01:05 PM

Good luck, my wife hates the M Sport package, so no ZMX for her. Dealer I'm taking delivery from is a Dinan dealer, so I'll go that way instead.

Darth GEM 02-28-2012 01:08 PM

Dinan is sweet, I have the full exhaust and tune on my 2011 M3. Great sound and power.

Larry Cable 03-26-2012 12:16 PM

I just ordered my 2013 X5 xDrive50:

- A76 Deep Sea Blue metallic
- LUSW blk/bllk Nevada Leather
- ZMP M Sport pkg:
- 2NY 20" wheels style 333M
- 456 multi-contour seats
- 7XA M sports wheel w/paddle shifters
- ZMX M Performance Pkg
- ZPP Premium pkg
- ZPS Premium Sound
- 300 space saver spare
- 4AD brushed aluminum interior trim
- 2VA adaptive drive
- 6NR BMW Apps

Got an awesome bimmerfest deal from Jon Shafer @ Santa Barbara

Darth GEM 03-26-2012 12:57 PM

Larry did you order the Luxury Seating Package (ZLS) or just the 456 multi-contour seats?

Well ... we are trying to specify the 456 MC seats as part of the ZMP option ($900), however the dealer configurator is not currently permitting this, Jon has a query into BMW NA about this...

I did not order ZLS ... but if I have to do that to get MC I might just have to!

I really wanted to get an X5M but could not justify the extra cost for a daily (4x) dog driver! :(

Gregory34 03-26-2012 01:44 PM

Has anyone heard of BMW's plans for making the ZMX package availabe after purchase? BMW has typically done this with Performance Packages for other models (most recently the 3 series). Since this one is just software, pedals and exhaust tips it's certainly possible...

ND40oz 03-26-2012 01:49 PM

ZLS can't be ordered with ZMP, but you're supposed to be able to order 456 as a standalone with it.

Haven't heard anything about adding ZMX to prior model years, my wife broke down and got ZMP and ZMX, looking forward to seeing the new exhaust tips. But you're right, it's basically the PPK with a few trimmings.

just to confirm the above, I was able to order 456 with ZMP+ZMX, however the dealer was unable to get the ordering system to select this option, he had to ask a contact at BMW NA to enter it ...

MRV99 03-27-2012 08:18 PM

$1600 for 40HP that will be fully backed by BMW. That is a really good deal. The real question is if you have a 2011 or 2012 can this be retro fitted....

Larry Cable 03-28-2012 02:12 PM

worth asking I assume its just a ecu flash ...

ND40oz 03-29-2012 02:15 AM

I was doing some reading on the new 6er Gran Coupe, which power wise is rated pretty closely to the ZMX package. The 640i GC is at 315/330 and the 650i GC is at 445/480. The interesting thing is, the 640i has the N55HP and the 650i has the N63Tü (which adds valvetronic).

The ZHP package for the E46 still had an M54B30 but with different cams and a tune, we'll have to see if it's just a tune with ZMX or if it's an actual engine variation difference.
