1987 535 is ECM
I have a February 1987 manufacture date 535 is with the Moronic I ECM. Bosch P/N 0 261 200 059. Also marked 1 705 619 9. The unit is a 35 pin unit. I have determined that the ECM is bad (may have been lost to a quick start charger application). The unit reads out good for everything but sending a power signal to the fuel pumps. I would like to repair or replace the unit. Currently I do not see any obvious damage inside so I do not have a feel or any instructions for what to repair. Back to finding a replacement. I see some 635 csi and some 700 series units out there that have the exact P/N and markings but some save "adaptive". Others seem to indicate that they are something other than 35 pins (is this the adaptation)? Are these units in fact identical to my unit and can these units be used in my application or did BMW use the same P/N and ID for different units and different configurations? Thanks for any help and advice.

1987 535 is ECM
Thanks for the link. If I understand the following table that accompanied the advertisement for repair,
BMW 535i 1985-1988 BMW 535is 1988 BMW 635CSi 1985-1987 BMW 735i 1985-1987 BMW L6 1987 BMW L7 1986-1987 The 635 CSi unit is the same as the 535is unit and they can be interchanged. Am I reading this all correct? |
