Loose speaker wires? Did you check the Fade and Balance adjusting of the Head Unit?

Hi

I had this problem 3 years ago. I took it to the main dealer and they replaced either the amplifier or a some sort of signal unit that works in conjunction with the amplifier. It was about 450. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Hi,

I had only my front right speaker working and got it fixed this week.

Removed the BM54 amp in the rear of the car and sent it to www.vmkautolocksmith.co.uk

They repaired the amp and sent it back within 2 days working properly and with a warranty.

It cost me 95 inc postage and it works fine.

Hope this helps?

i have a 2001 525i, there's only sound on the passenger front speaker, tried looking for the amp but its not anywhere in the boot, do some cars come without an amp? if so, what could be the problem with my radio?

More information about your audio system is needed. What do you have in your dash up front? The majority of forum members here probably have either theMID & C43 cassette radio, or the MID & CD43 or MID & CD53 in-dash single CD/Busness radios...or the Nav & BM53 radio. These set-ups use an amp which in the back and is either DSP or non-DSP amp.

In other BMW markets...they use some other radio set-ups that we don't have here in the USA. There's the one-piece BMW REVERSE RDS radio & Business Radio without MID...which I'm not sure if they use an amp or not. The other set-up that uses something similar to the MID...is the IRIS (integrated radio information system) which has 2 rows of buttons and 1 display row (the MID is the opposite and has 2 display rows & 1 row of buttons). The IRIS (like the MID) is paired with a separate in-dash cass/radio or CD/radio.
