E36 328i OBD2 to OBD1 conversion
Hello everybody. I have E36 328i Europe version (M52B28 engine, ECU Siemens MS 41.0). I want to do OBD2 to OBD1 conversion. Which parts is necessary to find and what are the steps? I know only for ECU Bosch from M50B25 Engine... Thank you very much!

Instructions
1.Purchase an OBD1 jumper harness. Your automotive professional may have such a harness for your system. Alternatively, you can purchase one at many automotive stores. This allows you to convert your OBD2 to an OBD1 system. 2.Locate the OBD2 in your vehicle. It should be within three feet of the steering wheel. Examples would be under the dash, in front of the passenger seat, behind the ashtray or in or around the center console. 3.Locate the ICM (Ignitor) input port. Connect the yellow and green wire from the jumper harness into it. 4.Look for the CKP (Crank Position) input. Attach the light blue and white wires into it. Insert the yellow and black wires into the CYP (Cylinder Position) inputs. 5.Locate the TDC (Top Dead Sensor) input ports. Insert the green and red wires into those ports. 6.Plug the dark blue wire into the RPM Lead Signal input ports. Attach the black and yellow wires to the remaining RPM ports. |
i jus stumbled across this idea, and was kinda curious as to why... Is it so you can run a performance chip? or? and how much roughly are you looking at cost wise to convert?

I'm resurrecting this thread for..... reasons. Can any of the "regulars" or someone who's done it provide a walk through with pictures, materials and substantial proof that it's worth the time?
