F02 LCI Lights Retrofit
 

I really like the LED Corona headlamps and the darkened taillamps. Is it possible to retrofit these to our cars? Does anyone have any ideas?

Good question, I assume the taillamps are easy and a direct fit and might need coding to throw off any errors but the front might not be that easy because you might need a new bumper.

I think the form factor for the front lights are the same as well. But I'll check WebISTA and wiring diagrams on bmwtis.com and share my findings. I doubt taillamps would need coding though. Ours are already LED and bulb types aren't changed. The only thing changed is the color.

Should be a direct fit because the facelift NON-LED headlight are the same as ours or at least look the same.

Interesting, I'm interested in the headlamps so please keep us updated.

I smell group buy for front and rear lamps!

I highly doubt the front headlamps are interchangeable, that's not what BMW usually do. :(

Anyone ever retrofit rear fog lamps to their United States spec 7 Series by adding bulbs to the sockets and replacing the lamp switch to the left of the steering wheel? If so, was a computer reprogramming necessary?

On the e90's you can install the LCI e90 headlamps but on the e92 it's more difficult because they redesigned the hood.

OK so far I've found the wiring diagrams and the part numbers. LED's need an additional module. Wiring shouldn't be a problem. But I'm not 100% sure that the dimensions are the same between headlights.

As for the taillamps all findings point to plug&play. I'll probably order one from my stealer and see if it works. I'll let you guys know how everything goes. I can also share wiring diagrams if anyone is interested.

On the LCI model if you order the LED headlamps you can also order the fog lights as LED. I'll also see if those are retrofittable.

Hood has the same part number for both LCI and non-LCI models.

Let us know how it goes, I'm sure a lot of us will jump on board if this mod works out.

I've ordered the rear lights, some plugs and wiring from the stealers. I'll start working on the rears prob. next week. I'll let you guys know.

All you need to do is replace light switch with Euro spec switch which has the front and rear fog light buttons. Completely plug and play. No extra bulbs or wiring. Your current 7 uses the same lights during rapid braking. Also cool is that the indicator lights on the dash come on!

How bright are those LED headlights?

I would assume they're similar to the headlamps you find on the new 6 series.

The headlamps will fit because the top part of the front fascia is unchanged but no one really knows what else is needed for the lights to work.

There is another member who might be doing this retrofit so we should get some answers soon if he goes through with the install.
