REally neep help right now!!!
Tonight i was rollin around through a neighborhood to look at a fire with my older brother, so we were proabably rollin about 25-30 in my '95 Bmw M3 that just reached 257k miles on her today and i look down at my dash and my temp gauge was redlinen. I started freking out because this car has been my dream since i was a kid and the last thing i want is the engine to blow! Ive been watching the engine area really closly lately because ive been hearin a "repeaded ticking sound" like it goes in revolutionsN every time i step on the gas it goes faster, so when i sit there and let it idel it dose the same thing but it dosent tick as fast. Anyway to the point, ive noticed im leaking alot of coolant from... well idfk and thats what i need help with, its covering everything thats right in front of the engine, especially the area where my flywheel is. theres alot of coolant in that area.

Where could it be leaking from ?
What should i replace? :dunno:
Where should i go?

Mind you im working with my dream car here and its like im watching her tear herself apart :mad::bawling: and ya a enginge rebuild or just buying a brand new engine is already in the works, just dont know if i should get mine rebult or if i should just buy a new one, this m3 motor is really good i dont want to loose her just fix her and make her better.

ok so that ticking is my valves apparently. Hopefully a easy fix? ha shiit. some one give me some good feed back here...........

ahaha ummmmm"dude" why dose it matter ? look im just tryin to get some help here thats all i want. ight? dont start talkin that ish about add ? and what if i do "dude"?..... like i said i just want help THATS IT! N NOTHING ELSE!

Check your water pump. (This is based on your rather indescript description of the problem.)

Sometimes it is hard to trace where a coolant leak is coming from... What I am confused about is when you say "flywheel" and "front of engine"...

If it is up front, then most likely leaking from your radiator or expansion tank (e36 are notorious for this). Take it to a mechanic if you can't find it. They can do a pressure test to find the leak... Probably a good idea to check out water pump and thermostat as well...

Better replace the entire cooling system, but before you do that, check to see if the head gasket is blown.

Yep mine has a slow leak into the engine... Got my self syked up for a head gasket r&r. Hopefully no cracks in the head/block! $550 for all parts amd tools. Well see what else pops up.

Water pump or radiator or a hose or thermostat housing. Those are normal places on these cars for leaks. When was the last time those items were replaced?

Water pumps are good for about 60 - 65K miles. Radiator and thermostat housing (plastic) are good for about 100 - 110K miles. Hoses vary.

And if went to redline on the temp gauge, yeah, check for a blown headgasket now or soon (head may have warped and the headgasket will go soon).

This^^^ BMW cooling system = FAIL. If you want your engine to last, keep it cool. That is all.

275k miles.....I bet every part of the cooling system is tired. I would plan a complete overhaul. Radiator (I read the Z3M Coupe stock radiator is a bolt in upgrade), Water pump (get the kind with metal impeller), thermostat housing (get the aluminum one), expansion tank, all hoses and gaskets.....and lots of patience to make sure all air is burped.

OP, you might consider taking the time to compose yourself, it will help

Along with what everybody has said I would also have a compression test done or cylinder head leakage test. And then again in 500 miles or so.

Do you know how long it was in the red? And has it ever been overheated before?
