I am looking at this very rare BMW x5. I think it may be a bit to much its 13,000. I thats alot to pay for a 11 year old truck I feel. But do you guys think its alot??? How do they drive???? are they alot to matine??? and most impornt how fast do they lose value. If I where to buy it, I would sell it in a year. Please help thank you.

2001 = 11 year old not 6.
Mileage?
Service history?
Condition?
You WILL NOT get $13K for it in a year.

Depends on year, options, mileage, service history... How do they drive???? Better than traditional SUV are they alot to matine??? Maintain? Not if DIY, also depends on how long you want to keep it. Since you'd sell it in a year, just replace what breaks and most impornt how fast do they lose value Fast when nelegted. If I where to buy it, I would sell it in a year. Please help thank you.

I wonder what makes it "very rare."

They did not make a 4.8is in 2001...
what color is it? Why do you think it is 'rare'?

Enter the last 7 digits of the VIN at the following website to decode the options: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/select.do

It's going to depend on how well it was maintained and even then it's a crapshoot. I had a 2001 X5 4.4i with 139K miles on it that was covered under the extented maintenance warranty through the 1st 100K miles and after that I still had all maintenance performed at BMW. After all that, it still had a cracked engine block at 139K miles.

I still have it actually (since the tires are worth more than BMW would offer me for a "trade in"). I bought an '05 4.4i w/ 97K miles for $16 last year. Once the tires on that one wear out I'll put the tires from the '01 on it and then sell the '01 as a parts car (execellent interior and exterior other than the engine problem).

Do you think it will crack at 139 for this one ???

Seriously?!? You are going to have to be a little more believeable than this my friend. These guys are trying to help you and you seem to have no basic knowledge about the vehicle itself.
You have to do research before asking questions because other forum members are not "there" to see the vehicle.
Just reading these posts easily show that these guys are
really trying to help, and you know nothing about it. And to help you out a bit, my 2002
X5 4.4i has 171,000 miles on it and doing fine. So it may not crack at 139.

maxeaus 07-16-2012 08:08 PM

I would think a 6 year old 2001 X5 would be quite rare.

Regarless of how great the color combo is, service and maitenance history are more important.
Seems like you have your heart set on it. Go have a Pre-Purchase Inspection on the X. If it's fine, buy it. Don't forget to show us the great color combo.

Mudnyrey 07-18-2012 12:39 PM

I agree with tmvE39/E53/Z32,, Before spending 13k i'd want to pull all the maint. info and carfax and any other history of this vehicle. Full vehicle inspection, drive the vehicle and simply take a look thorough inspection of the engine and body within the vehicle. hard to do when it's been wrecked once that you know of simply and possibly by the sellers word only? Lot's of stuff can be hidden from this wreck internally... How bad was it hit?

It seems your desperate to buy it rather then doing a complete and thoughtful full diagnosis and doing your "Homework" on it. I know I'd hate to just shell out 13k just on looks alone? based on very little information you provided this forum for "Honest" help in making your decission.

My suggestions are obvious as to others who replied.

1) Do you homework on the vehicle
2) Pull all maint. and service reports on the vehicle as well as a car fax (Look into any damage reports as to how sever it was or wasn't)

Based on placing your info to this forum and your responses, calculate and make your decision.

It seems foolish to give such little information on this vehicle you say is "Rare" but "Looks fantastic" and ask if you should buy it while your waiting for someone to say "YES!" without any real information you have given this Forum to help you in a "Real" decision without knowing the basic and hard acts of this vehicle while you just blow 13K on looks? Hookers are cheaper ;) One may look great and your "Wowed" by her, but without a condom, the out come could be deadly later when diagnosed by your random picking Dr.

Food for thought! Looks can be deceiving without getting to know the vehicle better!

Mud~
