Does your car have horizontal wood trim across the back parcel shelf?
I was at the dealer this past week, and they had a 2012 750iL M-sport on the floor that had a beautiful horizontal 2 inch wide strip of wood (if you're into wood) across the length of the rear parcel shelf, incorporated the seat belt outlets. My 2012 Feb production 750i AH doesn't have this.
Is this a new recent change? Only for long wheelbase models? Just M-sport? I'm just a little envious. |
I have it in my Individual trim 7 in piano black, love it! :D
|
I've got it in my non-individual. Looking back I should have gotten some kind of redwood because you really don't notice things like the wood strip in the back when it's black on black on black.
|
So is it included in the exe. package?
|
Can someone post a picture?
|
There was a piece of wood trim about 4-5 inches wide in the e65 standard. I didn't notice it in mine for a while, but it is a very nice touch.
|
I would also like to see a pic if anyone has one. I just dropped my car off at the shop for some service and I am going on vacation and will not be able to check my car out for a while.
|
Mine has this, and I do not have any executive or individual package! Our 2007 also had this piece of wood. I think it is a great, elegant touch...and I am glad BMW kept it on the F01/F02!

I think it is item 6 from here - http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...60&hg=51&fg=40
I don't think the car had the rear comfort seats. |
I don't have rear luxury seating but I have the wood. So most of the 7 here have it, right? Wondering which package it's included with.
|
Perhaps the LWB iL cars? Does anyone have in with the SWB 750i?

2003 SWB
2006 LWB 2011 LWB ALL had the wood parcel shelf. |
You can see the trim on this 2011 SWB M-Sport, the car has brushed silver trim instead of wood so stands out even through the sun protection glass, it is a nice touch...

Those pics IMO don't do the piece justice. It's one of those "over the top" items that really define you're driving a luxury automobile. I wish some of the other design/features of the 7er weren't so closely similar to the 5er.

yeah i have the wood trim in the back too...mine is an "L"....but I do not have luxury rear seating package....so no idea what to tell you Chris...

Yup this is my wood :D Non-individual. |
Does anyone have it with the fine line gloss wood trim? I did some research, and it seems some other cars didn't get it either:
http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...1&postcount=33 http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...13&postcount=2 Look at the pictures with the side view shots through the rear side windows. Perhaps it's a nice hybrid touch - not only does the car use 18% less gas, it uses 18% less wood :). They may have made a few cars without it, but that doesn't sound very Germanic. |
My car is in for service and my SA told me that they can't fit it because the battery interferes with a mounting point. Which looks valid when you see the realoem diagram - http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...60&hg=51&fg=40
So the pics of the cars I showed in the post immediately above are of cars produced before mine. So it looks like they made a running change sometime after my car was produced. |
My late build '12AH7L does NOT have it.

Here is a picture of my backseat, taken this morning (25 July 2012). My build date for my 2012 Active Hybrid 7 (SWB) is 01/2012 according to the manufacturer's sticker on the inside of my driver's door. My dealer received my car in mid March 2012, and I bought it this June 2012.

In that case - I wonder if it is the fine line high gloss trim? Meaning, fine line high gloss trim (+ Hybrid?) is the reason for lack of the wood?
