Car Alarm

A friend of mine gave me a 1994 BMW 540i. It has a car alarm. I have gotten complaints from my neighbors in front of my apartment complex that; the alarm goes off. I don't hear it because I live in back of the complex. Does anyone know how to reduce the sensitivity of the alarm.

I also don't have an owner's manual. Does anyone have an idea where I can get one. I've been searching online and can't find one. Thank you.

Is it a factory alarm or aftermarket? Is there a brand name on the remote?
