99 z3 engine how do i know
 

i am looking at purchasing a 99 z3 with 230k and bad head gasket. the owner is telling me that it is a 2.5 . the question is how do i tell if it is a 2.5 or 2.8? would it be in the vin, any visual differences, etc??
i am going to look at the car tonight. it doesnt have the numbers on the trunk lid.
so the sooner the better with an answer.

hey, you're in my backyard! Well you can check the sticker in the door jamb. It's a 99 so it's either going to say Z3 2.3 or Z3 2.8.
