E36 Engine Question.

I have a question. Kinda new to the Forum.

I know that the 96-99 E36 M3 Had the S52B32(US). Is that engine a full iron block or a iron block with a aluminum head? Or all aluminum? And what kind of max power can you get out of it? And is it a good engine to turbocharge? :eeps: Please let me know.

Iron block, aluminum head. Absolute max n/a whp is around 300whp. Yes, if done right.

Ok thank you. If i can remember, there was a Drift car that had a S52 that ran 700+hp. Is that possible? It had a turbo with high boost. Dont remember how much though....

Anything is possible. If you believe, aka have enough cash, you can achieve anything. TRM makes turbo kits that can push out 600+ whp on stock internals. However, if you're planning on anything over 350 whp I HIGHLY suggest a built motor.

Yeah thats what i thought. Thank you for answering my question.
