Adding auxillary power socket
 

Hey all. I'm in need of adding additional power for my sat radio, etc.
I have been thinking of where the best place to draw clean power from.I have tried the stock lighter socket but it puts out a helluva lot of alternator whine. I was thinking of tapping the switched powee line from the radio as it producs no whine. Any recomendations?

Why do you think it produces no whine? Radios have internal filters to help block the whine. I don't think you will find any less on that wire.

I would install a noise filter somewhere behind the console and wire your lighter to that.

All the power comes from the same source.

If you are getting that much whine, you need to check the alternator.
