Bmw fuel system cleaner
Hesitation and start up issues started..... Wasn't sure what the problem was.... Went to bmw and purchased the bmw fuel system cleaner and now the car has great performance and starts right up!!!!! Also, from now on, I will only fill up with "Chevron with Techron".
I did that too to help with the rough idle when reversing or sitting at a light. It helps clean out the carbon build out. Turns out for me it's going to need a new eccentric shaft. The cleaner is helping for now. Warranty wont replace until it generates a fault code.
the BMW fuel system cleaner will probably help all 7-series greatly, but if the idle does get a bit rough and is blamed on the excentric shafts, I'd look into having the whole VANOS system checked out and as well invest in a better oil with some cleaning abilities.
I saw you metioned filling up only at Chevron, do you use premium?
Cleaning the MAF sensor will also be a good idea. Made an amazing difference in both our cars.

Look no further than THIS:

Thanks to all that posted.... Great feedback and info...
@jcharris.... Yes premium... Chevron and Texaco. These gas brands are the only ones that have Techron mixed in the fuel. Also, Chevron rates their gas standards base on BMW's engines performance..

@ Flexamillion, thanks man.
So Chevron is better for our cars than Shell 93 V-power? Shell is much closer to my home than Chevron which is like all the way across town.

Yes. Chevron or Texaco is better for our fuel systems in BMW's.... Remember, Its mostly the "TECHRON" that you really want in the gas. The BMW service depts. have the bottle of fuel system cleaner available also . The main words on the front of the bottle is "TECHRON". So definatly for overall performance, Chevron or Texaco with Techron...
Hope this helps!! |
Be careful with that lucas stuff! It has a large amount of detergents that can damage sensors and seals over time! Redline SI-1 Fuel cleaner doesn't have that level of detergents but instead uses another compound that cleans without damaging other components! Source: Bobistheoilguy forums

I use Lucas in my Armada but that beast drinks fuel like crazy no matter what you do, lol. Redline seems to be the way to go for the Bmw, just saying....
Is seafoam not a good choice on bmw?
I never thought about Seafoam, I used it on my older cars back in the day, I will do some reasearch on it.
