Wheel/tire warranty question
2 Attachment(s)
After approx. 5 months & 9K miles, wheels still pristine; then, pothole
Do you think a claim will be denied for "cosmetic damage" ? I have BMW's "Tire and Wheel Protection," not a 3rd party policy. |
That is hardly cosmetic! I would not want to drive on that tire or wheel. Claim should be approved without question.

bump for tales of success. hopefully.

This is a couple weeks old, so I don't know if you got this resolved... but a co-worker of mine got some nasty curb rash on his 335d and took it to BMW to replace under warranty. The claim was denied because apparently they only replace the rim if it can't hold air.
|
not resolved. claim denied... "cosmetic" = absolute bull****. i might even get a prorated refund.

How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie-Pop? (not that I'd ever suggest intentional damage to generate a fraudulent claim, but that rim seems like it'd be unsafe and potentially eat the tire sidewall up) |

That shows you how little tire and wheel warranties are worth. Nobody in their right mind would tell you that that tire is safe!
|
Ask whoever made the determination that this damage was "only cosmetic" to please put that statement in writing "so that I'll have a record in case something happens". I bet their story will change real quick!
