Pondering an M3 with AA
Hi guys,
I know someone through a mutual friend who is selling a 2002 M3 with 86k miles on it. Here is what he has told me about it: Oil changes every 3k miles. Stop tech brakes being installed soon. Standard M3 fitment kinesis k19r's/ h&r coilovers/ strass CF front lip/ vcsl trunk + diffuser/ oem led tails/ milltek catback/ aa headers/ AA stage 3 gen 2 sc/ aftermarket strut bar/autosolutions ssk/ leatherz shift knob/ leatherz boot/ umnitza angel eyes/ defi boost + egt gauge/ aem a/f gauge/ custom gauge pod/ light weight flywheel/ aa clutch. The subframe also had the reinforcement performed by an indy. The car looks sharp - I am not thrilled about the wheels, but not a big deal to swap those out. What should I be aware of when considering this vehicle? He is asking $21,500 for the vehicle. Thoughts? Thanks! |
Has it had the rod bearing recall done?
|
Not sure, I can ask. Assume both scenarios: Yes or No...what bearing does each have on your input?

If no a new engine is likely a 15 to 20k bill at your cost when the knocking starts. If yes then at least it's been done so you won't get stuck. Either way I would take the car to a competent M mechanic for a thorough PPI. |
Any dealer can check is the rod bearing SERVICE ACTION (not a recall) was done. They need the VIN to look up in thier computer system.

can't believe it's been 8 years since the action.
