Need advice - vibration and tire wear
I have a problem with my 2012 X5 Sport and would appreciate any advice.
The car started to vibrate with only about 7000 miles on it. The vibration was not in the steering wheel, but in the whole car. A water bottle in the cup holder would vibrate at speed. It vibrated only when moving, and was worst over 50 mph.
We took the car in for service, and was told that the TIRES WERE COMPLETELY WORN. We were shocked. Im not exactly sure which tires. They sort of accused us of maybe hitting a curb or pothole, which we didnt do. We got new tires (supposedly at dealer cost), and they balanced and aligned for free. They also looked for a bent rim and bent rotors, but found nothing. It seemed to help some, but still didnt seem to totally fix the problem.
Now it's got 12000 miles and the vibration is back. It's going back in tomorrow. Does anyone have another suggestion on what to look for, or maybe how to handle this situation with BMW? Something in the drivetrain maybe, or maybe something with the active steering not working the way it should?
Post the alignment numbers from the LAST time they did it- when they sold you the tires...
Every once in a while a car is not aligned from the factory- or someone bumped something unloading it- and the new owners get a few thousand miles before being abused by the dealer. The warranty for ALIGNMENT when new is onlu 2000 miles- BMW knows that you will never notice the tire wear in 2000 miles...
Again, post the numbers, I'll let you know.
