94 318is Turn signal issues
This is my first time here, as a matter of fact, first ever. I own a 1994 318is Coupe and for some odd reason, off and on, when I turn on the right turn signal on, sometimes it would just stay on and sometimes it works fine.
Can someone help me on this, please?
Start easy and check the bulbs first.
I appreciate you replying to my question.
As a matter of fact I have checked all the bulbs, front and back and all are fine. None of them are out.
As I mentioned in my post, the issue of just being on (not blinking) and turns off when I cancel the turn signal, happens out of clear blue. Sometimes it doesn't happen for months and then suddenly it will stay on till cancelled and then after few minutes (during the same ride) will start working fine and won't happen for months.
This time it took over a year to happen again.
Its really confusing and irritating.
Well, I hope this helps you with the dilemma I am facing.
Thanks and I hope to hear from you soon.
The reason I said to check the bulbs is that for some reason some of the bulbs installed by the factory behave lets say oddly. The dealership that I worked for had a policy that required us to replace all the bulbs if there was any issue. All the bulbs would look fine but sometimes a light would stop working before the customer would pick the car up or shortly after and then start working fine for a period of time. When one bulb doesn't work there isn't enough amperage for the flasher to flash. I have had the service writer come and get me for one not working just to have it work normal when I got the vehicle back. You could have a bad connection someplace or even a flasher unit that might have an issue. Most of the time an intermittent problem is a bad connection or a loose wire and a bulb that looks fine can have a loose wire that vibrates out of place at times. Hope this helps I know these problems can be frustrating.
Thank you for your advice. I feel you must be correct about either connection being loose or the turn signal lever might be going bad. It might be acting up some or the other reason. I will check the connections and the turn signal lever.
I will definitely update you as soon as I get to the root of the issue.
Thanks for your advice again.
