DIY Insturctions to replace L/R rear suspension air bags for X5 4.4i
I have a 2003 BMW X5 4.4i. The "Selflevel suspension Inactive" light came on 4 days ago, with the rear of the truck sagging. Took it to Dealership for diagnostics and was told that the left and right rear suspension airbags are leaking. The Dealership is asking $1500 to replace both airbags.
I am contemplating doing the installition myself but not sure how complex it is to replace the rear airbags. Does anyone have any idea how complex this is? Also could someone please point me to the DIY for X5 Rear suspension airbag replacement?
Thanks for your time and assistance!
I have the same problem on my 2007 x5 4.8i. Looking to probably do it myself over the weekend. The dealer is asking 6bills for the part, and i can only imagine the labour cost...:(
I replaced the one front strut of my x5 it is no big deal if you have correct tools. I also saw many videos on youtube explaining the rear air bag replacements.
I wish the Best of luck for you and a reminder. Be gentle with the air connections of each air bag, they are fragile!! I have one stripped!!
