Boot replacement???
Hi everyone, I had just tried to remove my ICV and rip my lower boot. The screw were upside down, so it was difficult to remove. But everything is out now.
My question is, should I replace the upper boot and lower boot? Upper boot looks fine. Do I have to also change the clamps? One last question, When I look up the part, I get to choose what kind of car I have, and I get confused on the sport wagon or regular. I have a 2001 325i E46. And it has Sport suspension and prem. package. But my car is not a wagon.:dunno: My car has over 110k mile on it. Thank in advance |
If it were my car, and if the boots have been in use for several years, I would replace both of them at the same time. Otherwise, you'll have a brand new lower boot and an old upper boot that's hardened in the heat and is likely to tear like its lower counterpart just did.

Thanks will do, any advise metal clamps? What about the sport part?

Don't worry about the sport part. That's about suspension. As long as you can enter the correct year and model designation (325i) you'll be fine.

Unless you chewed up the screws on those adjustable clamps (I know I did a bit because I had the same problem with them being upside down) then you should be just fine reusing them. If it's really bugging you not to replace them then go pick some up at a hardware store or something. They'd probably be a couple bucks each.
