01 Oil Pan 1 11137574532 $222.76

The pan is $222 from RealOEM.com, but that price does not include new oil, oil filter, gaskets and o-rings etc... So figure about $350 or so for parts. $400 in labor is not that bad (at a BMW dealer) as the job does take some time. An indy mechanic would be able to shave the labor cost by $100 or $200.

I've never looked at my oil pan to see how difficult it is to get at but, I pulled one off my Saab and it was an easy job. If you do any of your own work, you ciould do this for the price of parts.

Good luck.

To do the oil pan is not a difficult task if you have the time and handy with tools. Since this is not your transmission pan that is cracked, the engine oil is relatively cheap compared to the transmission oil. I am assuming that it's the lower pan that is cracked and if that is the case you could do it or find a reasonable indy shop. All the parts should run you arond the price as indicated by Mulchman but the labor should run you cheaper than what the dealer is charging. Personally I believe a job like this should run you about $500.

Oil pan is very simple so I would find an indie to install it. The part is $219 at Tischer, the gasket is $17. You are supposed to change the 20 bolts @ $0.80 each and the o-ring on the oil level sensor @ $3.

The oil change and filter is another $90 in parts, but you were going to do that anyway.
