Navigation query

I've a question on my new 2010 BMW 328i navigation, is there setting on navigation that will make her to say street names. The navigation just doesn't say every street names, just freeways rather tells me to turn left after 500 ft etc. On my previous car the navigation used to say every street name and it was so much more helpful as its more accurate (having route information shout out loud).

Unfortunately it doesn't do this and I also miss this feature (along with auto zoom). Fortunately the split screen arrow view is massively helpful. My old sat nav didn't have this and I find that it compensates for the loss of these features. If you've got business nav, I believe you can get the arrows overlaid as opposed to split screen.

No TTS (text to speech) in iDrive. Compared to every other car manufacturer that has embraced touch screens and TTS, it blows my mind that BMW (i think even Mercedes? - might be a German thing) is so far behind the technological curve.

Mine does major routes. I'm in the UK so it will say things like, "exit left onto A72". It won't say the name of streets in towns though. For example, my old garmin would say, "turn right onto Leicester Avenue" whereas the BMW will say "turn right in 500 yards".
I generally like the technology in my BMW though. It's much better than the Audi stuff I've used (although I haven't seen the most recent version).
And I really don't want touch screen. I had an aftermarket in car entertainment unit in my last car with touch screen and it was a bit of a nightmare. I found it quite difficult to perform simple actions when the car was in motion as you couldn't press anything without looking. Even changing the radio was frustrating and potentially risky. And the screen was constantly getting covered in fingerprints. I really don't think it's good tech for a car.
