not everyday im asking a question!
I havent taken my E30 out for a few weeks now between driving my E34 and a E36, i got in it today, and the RPM gauge is flickery.
take a look at this http://youtu.be/vwIJZfeRbK8 I would usually diagnose this as a CPS issue, but the engine does not stutter or anything, and i swear its not me with the clutch in giving her a squirt any ideas? also theres proof of my fantastic fuel economy in this car, backed up by calculated figures! |
I never had this happen with the TACH but my speedo acted like that. The fix was to R&R the assemble and soldier the connections on the circuit boards.
Might be worth a try. |

Gotta go with solder joints and SI batteries. Don't think having a crash on the chance it might fix it is worth the risk LOL

i could be wrong, but it shouldn't be the SI batteries, the RPM gauge has nothing to do with the rest of the gauge and is a self contrainted unit. Non the less ill take it out when i get a chance and have a look. Im tracking my E34 this weekend so wont have time this one.

So i dont know why, and i cant see the logic, but i still hadn't got round to taking a look at the cluster. But i did leave my lights on a few nights back and the battery went flat on the car, but now after charging the car and driving around like normal again, its gone back to working 100% normally! how strange right!

ill update this, after that event, still working 100% fine a few months later! very peculiar!
