Sirius Radio Presets

Picked up new 2013 750 Li x and set up Sirius radio while driving home. Set up presets along with some AM & FM channels. When I started the car the next day, all of the presets were gone and the radio defaulted to 184 (preview channel). After 8 days at the dealer, it was returned to me with the statement "that's the new design" and all 7 series will have this issue. I drove the car home and called Sirius. They sent another signal and then said it is a problem that BMW is having and they cannot help. BMW from what I was told is not addressing this problem as they do not see it as a problem. Now the worst, every time I start my car the radio goes to 184 and no ability to save Sirius radio channels in the car. Anybody else have this issue?

NOT acceptable. You call BMWNA, and tell them if this is not fixed IMMEDIATELY, you will start a lemon law case. Your dealer really looked you in the eye, and told you it is a DESIGN feature for preset radio stations to ERASE daily?? I would have never picked the car up. Never!!!

Unfortunately you will need to take your new pride and joy back to the dealer. How could they look you in the eye and say this is normal?:dunno:

Sounds to me like your account is not being activated properly. Did you call Sirius and give them your ESN to start your free one-year subscription for this vehicle (i.e. there's no confusion with a prior vehicle subscription)?

When my car was delivered, all the sat radio channels were available (and could be stored as presets). I assumed that the dealer had activated the subscription for me. A few days later, all the sat presets disappeared. Turned out that Sirius happened to offering one of those free trial periods when I took delivery. I called and activated my one-year subscription and all my presets reappeared.

It sounds like you are interchanging the two keys that come with the car. Each key remembers your preferences including radio presets!! If you programed using one and then start car using the other, everything will disappear! BTW you need to change dealers if they really told you that BS about auto erasing!! wow!!

This is my 9th BMW in 12 years and I agree with everybody as far as BMW's position. It is a cop out! I actually have a lifetime contract with Sirius and they have been very cooperative. The head unit was replaced and I have had at least 4 master resets. Now here's the reality- I have a profile created for both keys that are identical. After playing around with the system and speaking with the BMW service center, the presets showed up! I called immediately to question the fact that they contradicted themselves. It either works or not. Now I am confused. So here it is "sometimes it will work (the way it should be) and the times that it doesn't BMW's position is that's the way it's supposed to be........totally unacceptable for somebody that has purchases over $1,000,000 in cars personally in 12 years!

I noticed the same thing happened to my 7 as well, I was wondering what had happened if maybe the freebie subscription got cancelled by accident.

Truth be told I don't listen to it enough to warrant taking the car to the dealer. I get such poor reception where I live it cuts in and out(from a satellite?????) - on the past 6 cars its been the same even when Sirius and xm were separate.

Presets

I understand your issue but does it make sense that you can't retrieve your presets?

This may be a reach, but are you using the same key fob when you get in the car? I have one that is set with all of my stations and the other is not.

Fobs

Same fob. I actually created 2 different profiles and for both fobs. This is a software issue that BMW won't admit to and that's what bothers me the most. Again, if their statement is correct how can presets show up at diffrent times? Either they work or they don't.

Mine is a 2012 and I had the same problem in the beginning. I would lose my radio presets and the Bass, Treble and so forth would adjust back to the default. I asked the dealer about it and they said it should not be that way and had no explanation. It eventually held all the presets and I have no explanation why.
