M3 Convertible question

2 Attachment(s)
The short story- 2004 E46 M3- Alpine white/black, 6 speed.

Wife rolling slowly down a friend's driveway and tries to close top. Top gets almost closed but doesn't clamp and then stops. She stops the car, reopens the top and then closes it. Since then, every time she tries to close the top it gets a couple inches from the windshield, the clamps "close", but of course the top is not closed. She reopens the top, and closes it a second time and it closes perfectly. It has been doing this for a few weeks. Obviously, there is nothing broken b/c the top closes perfectly every time, but it does it on the SECOND try. Additonally, she was litteraly rolling down the drive. Not nearly enough wind strength to damage anything. It never closes right the first time anymore. I have been told to turn the key off/on 5 times to reset the computer, disconnect battery, etc. I've done those things and it still won't close the first try. Any thoughts??

Thanks for helping a new guy. I have always loved M3's, and bought this one for my wife a couple months ago. Thanks again for the help.

Welcome to the forum.

Sorry you haven't gotten any answers to your question but maybe a trip to the dealer is warranted.

The only thing I can think of is to try and pull the negative cable and leave it off for 15 min plus in both top positions...up and down.

In other words put the top down and than pull the power. Let it sit and than reconnect and put up the top and again pull the power again.

Good Luck,
Perry
