Well I have been brain storming about replacing my 335d tires: fronts have lot of life close to 50% and rears are done no thread what so ever. What should I do. I want to replace all 4 but this will happen again and I will always be at loss of 2 tires every 2-3 yrs. I have winter set so I have time till next mar-apr. Also thinking of getting extended warranty. My warranty ends in Sept 2013. So in nutshell I am looking at expense of 3.5-4.5k in next 6 months. I need to find a single bedroom from next year. House rents are ever high... freaking single bedroom goes for $1750 per month. Payscales dont go up as other commodities. How do I downsize... financially I am stable but how long can I sustain my condition... I didnt know I would become like this after getting married
Can I loot local bank... And Flyingman complains about not posting...:mad::mad::mad:

Disclaimer: I believe if you dont talk about 335d or X5d thread will be moved to general section :D

Now you make me feel bad.

Why are your rear tires wearing so fast? You real heavy on the gas pedal?

I'm very pleased with the Michelin PSS tires. (Non RFT!).

I too am debating the warrant issue. Any little emission control issue and how much do you think you can spend trying to get it fixed?:dunno: I'm probably going to opt for it just to have piece of mind.

Put your wife to work, that might help!

Glad i could be of some help BimmerDiesel.

That's just the way it is, especially the Michelins it seems. I replaced my rears this summer; will probably replace all 4 with Bridgestone RE960s when the next tire gets too close to the wear bars.

Mine's overdue for service... only an oil change. Been too busy the last few weeks to take the car in. I still love everything about it, though I will mention the post-recall mpg drop. Unless there is a post-recall recall, I doubt the techs will offer much help.

If we are fishing for topics... I added another car to my stable recently, a FIAT 500 Abarth.

The two cars are complimentary since they satisfy very different things. Both cars are also somewhat of a rarity. I like having unusual cars... a good source of conversation.

She will kill me if I say anything along those lines. She is finishing up with med school so you know...

Regarding tires I am thinking of non RFT H rated all season tires. I dont go to track so dont see point of getting W, Z or Y rated tires.
Warranty is also something I will get for peace of mind but I am going to hold myself till last moment.

How often do you rotate tires? I do it every 5-7,500 miles and tend to get 40-50,000 miles out of mine. Right now, I have 32,000 miles on the OE Bridgestones and it looks like I'll be changing them around the 40,000 mile mark.

Of course mine is X5d with AWD and I drive mostly highway, OTOH the vehicle is much heavier than yours.

He has a SPORT PACKAGE 335d. It has a staggared setup and you can't rotate them (like you can on your X5d.)

Hmm, I haven't been a around in few days and not too much to share. The Misses did a 110 mile drive the other day and used less than $10 of diesel, but that's not really news for the 335d. ;)

You can still swap them left to right, if that helps any.:dunno:

I got about 32k from my original Bridgestone RFTs. Not that bad compared with what many other's get. My fronts probably wore quicker than my rears, and the outer edges at that.

Very pleased with my Michelin Pilot Super Sports so far. Have a can of green goop and air compressor at the ready though. I actually increased the width of my fronts by an extra 10mm over recommended. 235 vs 225. Rears are 255s.

Snipe656 10-20-2012 04:50 PM

My 335d still has yet to go to the junkyard in the sky :(

bimmerdiesel 10-29-2012 06:38 PM

How is everyone doing on east coast? It wasn't terrible out here in Boston. D is parked in garage with no knowledge of storm. Lost power for a while but all is good now.
