Help! Changing spark plugs on e60 n54 engine
Hey fellow Bimmers, I'm getting ready to change out the spark plugs on my engine as I type this message.... Do I need to disconnect the battery before I do? All the threads and videos I've found don't say to so I want to make sure. Don't want to if I don't have to. I don't plan on starting up my engine in the middle of it. :D

No, you don't need to disconnect the battery.

Thanks guys!
Just got back from taking my baby for a spin after changing out the plugs. Can't believe how easy it was to change them. I think the hardest part was dismantling the cabin filter components and the sway bar. I also can't believe that the dealer wanted $500 to do it. :flipoff: Initially I thought maybe they changed out the coils for you too, which would justify the cost in my mind, but heck no! I also changed the cabin filters while I was at it. Actually did the oil & filter change last week too. I couldn't believe how easy that was to do either. Currently at 58k miles and going strong.

I did mine today too (N62 V8 though) and thought the same. Took me no more than an hour--all the guides said 3-4 hours with two people. Not sure what the heck they were doing to make it take that long!
