refinish wood interior
 

ive seen pictures of what i think was a e46 m3 with bright awsome looking wood. i was thinking of sanding down and refinishing my wooden interior and was wondering if anyone has any failed attempts because in about to do mine. i can tell the clear coat on the handles has blackened hiding the true beauty! i know the wood is very thin and fragile has anyone had any luck with this? im going to do it anyways eventually. im only trying to find out any tips before hand. one step at a time im going to reengineer the e36 m3. thanks. ill be more informitive than i have before.

Well to his credit the wood trim is made with real wood. Only problem being is that its only a few thin pieces of wood, I doubt you'll be able to strip the clear coat without ruining the wood.

ya doesnt look too promising. i think im going to progressivly sand the clear coat utill its nice and fresh lookin again. once i have time. gonna wait untill i get new mids and tweeters and just redo th whole doors. there not too sturdy

You can always try a light buffing then seal it with some sort of permanent coating to prevent any further cracking. Just a thought :)

The problem is that the wood in the e36 is as thickly finished as an e34. Any cracking will be down to the wood. Replace or get ready to take it down so far as to wish for death. Fading is easy. 1000 grit wet sand and buff. Anything more intensive and be prepared to spend time.

But really, who wants wood in a BMW?

Oh jeez! When Jared said he wanted to see my wood during the engine swap I thought he meant the car. That gives it a whole new perspective!

My mom warned me about you weirdos. wood is good in a 5 or 7 but I like a 3 with a more svelt interior scheme. Just my preference.
