DIY - Oil Change with Pics
Hi Guys
Just did the oil change for the first time on my 650i Here are some steps :) BMW N62 Oil Change This was performed on a 2008 650i, but as the title indicates, its good for all the N62 engines. http://www.bimmerzone.com/images/N62-Oil_Change-04.jpg Tools needed (besides the obvious oil catch pan, ramps, oil and oil filter.) 1st = 8mm (Plastic cover), 2nd = 8mm (Main drain plug), 3rd = T40 (Oil filter drain plug), 4th = 24mm (Oil filter housing) http://www.bimmerzone.com/images/N62-Oil_Change-02.jpg After the car is jacked up, you will find this plastic cover, remove this cover. http://www.bimmerzone.com/images/N62-Oil_Change-05.jpg Remove oil drain plug. (remember to put the catch pan below!) http://www.bimmerzone.com/images/N62-Oil_Change-07.jpg Drain the oil from the oil drain plug. http://www.bimmerzone.com/images/N62-Oil_Change-08.jpg Change the oring on the oil drain plug. http://www.bimmerzone.com/images/N62-Oil_Change-09.jpg After draining the oil filter housing, remove the oil filter housing. http://www.bimmerzone.com/images/N62-Oil_Change-10.jpg Picture of the new and old oil filter. http://www.bimmerzone.com/images/N62-Oil_Change-12.jpg Change out the oil filter housing oring. assemble everything back and make sure there are no leaks. Fill up with the new oil and you are all good to go! And you just saved about $100 vs. bring it to the dealer. |
Great DIY!! Planning on doing this myself in the next few weeks!
