Steering Wheel
My steering wheel squeeks. Where do you apply lubricant to stop the squeek 1998 740i?
|
If it were my car, I'd first try to push up on the bottom clam shell that's under the steering wheel column. If that doesn't change (no squeak, or a different sounding squeak), then try pushing down on the top clam shell.
If nothing else, it will remove the clam shell from the test equation. Is the squeak just from turning the steering wheel left to right, or is it also from moving the steering wheel up & down, in & out? |
to the area that is squeaking... sorry- could not resist that.
but seriously-- you must determine exactly what is causing the squeak. It could be bushings or the column trim. |
I M experience it will be the horn contact slip ring, Easy to get at. Use metal based 'Never Seize' on it. I think you guys also know it as "Spark Plug Grease'.
