335d Indys...
Hey guys, My D visitied the dealer yesterday. At 42k mi, they installed new EGR valve, front rotors and pads, and AC drive belt.
As my 50k maint/warranty is almost up, I asked for quotes to 100k. I was quoted $3600 for Platinum Warranty and $2450 for regular maint to 100k. I figure an Indy can do the maintenance just fine - brakes, oil changes, filters, etc. But does anyone know a good one in Houston? Also still wrestling with the Plat Wattaranty. I'm really only concerned with diesel-specific risk.....not the balance of the car. I'm guessing I'll have to go to the dealer for that work. Guessing no Indys will be good for that. What do you guys think? |
One of my wives coworkers recommended a good Indy in Houston. I will see if I can dig it up.

If you're thinking about an extended warranty you should call Dan at Pacific BMW - they're a Bimmerfest sponser. Below are the rates he quoted me...
Gold 5/100K $2,030 6/100K $2,490 7/100K $2,940 Platinum 5/100K $2,300 6/100K $2,830 7/100K $3,350 The miles you drive per year and the options in your car will determin which plan makes the most sense for you. There are also aftermarket options available if you are interested. __________________ Daniel Dutton Finance Manager Pacific BMW (818) 552-4611 danieldutton@pacificbmw.com |

Thanks Daniel and Snipe. That 5/100k platinum might get the job done.

We know you're from Texas. Forget about it! |
I'm right at 3 years now with about 46k miles, so I'm seriously considering the 6 year 100k which should suit me just fine for the amount I drive.
Too many little gremlins for me to not consider extending the warranty. I realize the service is easily done by independents, but doubt they'll provide a loaner and aren't located right on my way to/from work. And if the work isn't done right I have no problem going back to the dealer. I have a couple more 1,000 miles to go and then I'll have to bite the bullet. |
we went with the 6/100k gold for 2430.00 got it thru garlyn shelton BMW in college station.

My D is out of warranty since July when I had the final free service done.
My dealer also did the full inspection just before the warranty expired to see if my D needed any work done while it was still under warranty but all was good. Two weeks ago my DEF warning lit up so I got a couple of bottles of 2.5 Gals and filled the DEF tanks. Now my idrive is indicating that the oil change is due in 1,500 Miles. I went to the dealership to inquire the costs of the service and the SA inserted my key fob into their computer and printed out the service required which was basically the same as displayed on the idrive. I was quoted the following prices: 1. Oil + Filter change + refill DEF: $270.00 2. Replace Diesel Fuel Filter: $195.00 Since I've refilled the DEF the cost of $40.00 will be deducted. I emailed an Indy shop that specializes in M-B and BMW and are also a sponsor on the M-B forum I frequent and got the following quotes: 1. Oil + Filter using OEM oil and parts: $140.00 2. Replace Fuel filter: $160.00 I've a couple of week's driving before I've to get the work done. I have not taken any extended warranty since my mileage piles up too fast for the warranty to be meaningful. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Bimmer App |
