535i GT Help With Battery
New to the forum but have been reading through all the threads. I have a dilemma living in Thailand. BMW Thailand does not sell the GT models so I went to a grey market importer and bought myself a 2010 535i GT a few years ago. Basic service, oil changes etc, were done by the importer since BMW Thailand will not service any grey market car and so far no problem.
Now my GT is warning me to replace my battery and I have looked very hard but could not find where the battery is in the car? I have a hunch that it's in the back underneath the floor covering in the trunk but I have to unscrew some bolts to get access to it. Is this where it is as I don't want to unscrew anything on my car unless it's necessary? Also, since the importer can only do the basic services on the car, I figure on replacing the battery myself without registering it. Battery life might not be so good but at least the car will run!
Appreciate any help and thank you in advance.
Yes, the battery is underneath the rear floor coverings. But, the 'smarts' in the car need to be told you've replaced the battery, as it adjusts the recharging based on the age and use of the battery...just changing it will help, but you won't get the full benefit of a new battery without resetting the computer to know it's a new one.
Thank you jadnashuanh.
