Winter Run Flats

It looks like my only option for run flats for my 2011 X3 are the LM-50s. I don't get much snow but quite a bit of ice. And even more dry cool days. Is the 225 60 17 going to be too skinny for even a moderate amount of performance?

I would not consider 225 width tires as being too narrow to deliver acceptable dry performance.
