2001 740il Sport Alpine White Engine is going
Hi everyone I am new.
I am looking for someone who would like to buy my great condition alpine white bmw 740il sport model. One owner, all of the maintenance receipts. My mechanic just told me that the ticking noise in my engine means the engine is going. Everything else on the car is great - new tires, allow wheels, garaged. I'd love to have it fixed to keep it myself but $4k is beyond my means right now because I was recently laid off. Any suggestions? Thank you! Carol |
estimated price?

I think about $3500 OBO. I can send you some photos this evening, so when you receive them could you give me any feedback on how much you think it is worth? Live in central Orange County, California.

sure. probably too high for me to purchase (because of shipping price), but i could probably give you an idea of what you may fetch on the market

Must be one hell of a 'ticking noise'. IMO don't be in too much of a hurry to sell.

Edit: Might be an obvious suggestion, but make sure it's got oil! We're all human. |
Can you expand in what the mechanic said was wrong? Id say its a little unlikely that the thing will just eat itself as long as its maintained :-)
Heck, maybe we could guide you to a DIY fix for whatever ails your baby. Sent from my DROIDX using Bimmer App |
Is your car otherwise in decent condition? an '01 sport is the arguable gem of the E38 line- someone might be looking to dupe you out of it. If it's been beat on all it's life- you may have some issues. I'd be critically analyzing the diagnosis of "engine going" WAY before thinking of selling.
that said- miles / pics / how much do you want? (interest intentionally demonstrated to emphasize my point) |
