Car Idle

When I turn on my BMW 328i after being parked for more than 6 hours the idle drops every 15-20 seconds then it eventually the engine will turn off. When I put the car into drive the problem will go away throughout the day but will occur again after being parked for more than 6 hours.

Is the car in tune? Spark plugs, air and fuel filters? If so check/clean the idle control valve (ICV)

I got a tune up less than six months ago. I was told there was not fuel filter on the 2000 BMW 328i. I am not sure about the air filters. I will check the idol control valve next.
