'88 E30 VIN Issue

Our Beemer only has a 8 digit chassis number

Any word on how I can get the full 17 digit VIN

8 digit VIN is peculiar to BMW out of South Africa - last 7 digit in a VIN decoder will confirm all else is good

Now how the heck do I get my SA BMW dealer to understand that :dunno:
These bona-fide morons have told me they cannot get me parts, as I do not have a valid VIN number :mad:
