Need backup camera and Bluetooth for a 2008 X5 4.8i

Hey folks,

I just recently picked up a 2008 X5 4.8i with the sports package and absolutely love the ride. However, I don't have a few things like rear backup camera or bluetooth.

Do you think its worth spending tons of $$$ at the stealership or look for alternate solutions?

If so, please let me know what your thoughts are or options?

Thanks /Craig

I think you are the only one who can answer the "if it's worth it" question, it's your money!

However, there are so many inexpensive backup camera solutions like:

http://www.amazon.com/Peak-PKC0RG-Re...=Backup+camera

Or

http://www.amazon.com/Pyle-PLCM7700-...=Backup+camera

And so many inexpensive Bluetooth solutions like:

http://www.amazon.com/Jabra-CRUISER-...h+speakerphone

I can't speak to the backup cameras because I havn't used any of them, but I can tell you that the Bluetooth speaker solutions are very effective and functional.

I think it would be very difficult not to try alternatives first. Heck, amazon will let you return most of the stuff if you don't like it anyway, why not give it a shot?

why not try bimmertech and use a bolt on method that is factory and gives you options you may not have today?

Check out Rear View Camera Retrofit (OEM) @ http://www.bimmer-tech.net/shop/bmw-...sist-retrofits

Both http://www.modmynav.com and http://www.bimmer-tech.net/shop/bmw-...ist-retrofits? have some really cool products and solutions. However I think I found the most cost-efficent way to add Bluetooth and a rear-view bluetooth mirror camera system to our X5's that didn't come with NAV or rear-view cam.

Basically I ordered a Pyle PLCM7200 7-Inch TFT Mirror Monitor with Rearview Night Vision Camera for $115 on Amazon and a Parrot Bluetooth system and called it a day!

Total spent $300 and installed it all myself. I know have a 10X4" LCD thin screen that clips onto to my factory rear-view mirror and provides me with not only a regular rear-view mirror capability with anti-glare and self-dimming, but it offers a full 7" LCD screen that displays a day or night view of everything behind my car (mounted above license plate) and displays incoming calls via bluetooth that paired to my Iphone 4S. The Parrot I installed under the dash, because I dont want to see it. I just want to have bluetooth hands-free ability for incoming and outgoing phone calls automatically.

S W E E T. So, If you have a 2008 BMW 4.8i E70 with no nav or backup camera (basic 6.5") screen, we have some really inexpensive options out there..../Craig
