Dealer for Service & Inspection (in NYC vicinity)
 

Almost up for my 1st annual service (ie. annual oil change & NY emissions inspection).

To those who live in the NYC area, which dealer would you recommend? No problems with a drive as long as they provide loaners. Can NJ dealers nearby do NY state emissions inspections too or am I limited to NY dealers too? Trying to avoid BMW Manhattan though I live right by it ... the convenience is quickly offset by the horror stories I've heard.

Life Quality down in Brooklyn isn't bad. It's right off the Belt Pkway when you transfer from the BQE. However, you probably have to call 3-4 weeks in advance to get a loaner. They service A LOT of cars in the shop and loaners are pretty hard to come by unless you book in advance.

Ah, thought Life Quality is one to avoid as well. Perhaps that's only on the sales side.

yeah you're right, they don't have great service but it's just another place in NYC.

only new york state certified shops can issue n.y. inspections.

if all you need is an oil change and a safety inspection,any local dealer should be safe to deal with.
i wouldnt even wait for a far out date just to get a loaner. schedule an appointment and wait in the lounge, it shouldnt be no longer then an hour.
the loaner route is 2 trips to dealership,much more time lost.

i live in n.y. have my car serviced in n.j., its only 20 minutes from my home.
a couple of weeks ago i went to bmw dealer for oil change.
this week i will go to my neighborhood garage for n.y. safety inspection.....in and out 10 minutes,cost $10.00

On the inspection, don't you need to get a safety & emissions inspection together annually? Are you only getting the safety part done? How abt the emissions part?

i went to where i purchased the car. open road bmw route 1 edison n.j.
if car is less then 2 model years old, no emission test ,just safety inspection.

Wide World BMW in Spring Valley, just over the Tappan Zee, is a great dealership. Highly recommended - I bought my 2013 X3 35i there and they will come down to Manhattan, leave me a loaner and take the car there and back for servicing; could be worth a call to see if they will do that whether or not you purchased there.
