New to the forum=Newbie questions!!!
Just got a 2008 525iX Sport Wagon. It has 41k miles and was taken care of.
Here are my questions. I've searched the forum, but can't fins the answers to. Thanks in advance 1 Can I run wheel spacers in the rear to simulate a staggered rim? I want to do this to keep the tires the same size and be able to rotate the tires more easily. 2 What is the largest tire I can run on the Xdrive platform, front and rear? I would like to keep the sidewall at a minimum of 40 to minimize wheel damage and have a compliant ride 3 Anyone run an M5 bumper on a wagon? 4 anyone have a hitch on a wagon? 5 Anyone run a dual exhaust on a wagon (dual tailpipe like an M5)? thanks |
I'm not sure about the wheels/tires, but Yes to 3-5. You may also want to check out: http://forums.5series.net/e61-touring-discussion-4/ this site is also a great resource for us wagon owners and tends to have more European participation where our cars are far more common.
Enjoy your new car! |
You want larger tires- but spacers so you don't need larger tires? You want an M bumper and trailer hitch? I am confused...but that's easy(LOL)!
Decide if you want sport or utility - cant have both with this wagon. I ordered the car with standard tires which have been bullet proof. Had Dinan installed when new and it's a hoot! Personally would rather spend money on KW3 sport suspension than changing wheels and tires. Running Michelin Ice xI3 for winter, will put on Conti DW in the Spring. Installed LED Angel Eyes, Blacked out grill and debaged- all low cost cosmetic stuff. It's a fun ride!!! |

thanks for all the help. I will probably go the square route and use spacers.

Thanks. I just got my wheels. They are 8.5" wide with 40mm of back spacing. The tires I will run are 245/35/19. How long is the sale going on for? It'll probably be a week before I get the tires in.
