hi, got a 318is 4cyl 1996 ... just rebuilt the engine but, after about 3 weeks now sometimes while im driving the car it all of a sudden looses power . then picks up again as if normal.. does not matter if the car is hot or cold .replaced fuel filter ,plugs , it really is getting worse to sometimes now idles rough..please help mechanics see the BMW badge and charge a fortune...3x mechamics have looked at it but it doesnt happen when they drive the car, but charge me for looking at it..HELP HELP

Bad gas? Intermittent fuel pump/pressure issue? Spark plugs randomly arcing?

How many miles on the original engine pre-rebuild? If the engine was running poorly for some time it is possible these symptoms could indicate a bad catalytic. Can you test the CPS? Having just done a rebuild and replacing plugs, etc...I would be looking at "a" sensor that could impact overall. Are you showing any codes??:(
