Are there different versions of the dreaded Goodyear LS2 RFT tire out there??

I am curious because i came across random posts on the internet talking about how the gen 2 GY LS2 have been less prone to bubbles to the side walls etc..

Now most of the owners i see complaining about bubbles with the LS2 tire seems to be the 2011 F10 owners but that could just be due to them being on the road longer or possibly (wishful thinking) Goodyear made some type of revision to the tire. Does anybody know for sure?

I swapped out my LS2's with 20miles on them (went with plus size wheels/tires) and now I am debating if I should put them back on for the winter. Seem like traction isn't an issue with these over the winter but i don't want to end up with 4 bubbled tires that will end up costing me more money down the road than me purchasing a set of non RFT tires now.

Alan,
I've got a 2012 with the "dreaded" tires on it and >12,000 miles with zero issues of any kind. I did just order winter tires & wheels from Tire Rack because of the extra security they give. My Goodyear run flats are the 245-45-18 size, as that is reported to have a better record.

You'll be fine. Worse case, they bubble, and you have to replace. Best case, you don't have to buy tires.

The GY tires have their own road hazard warranty. If they bubble and your wear is within tolerance, they will replace.

Just do it.

Just about all the bubbles issues you will see are with the 19" wheels. I do not recollect reading about a single person with 245-45-18 having bubbles issues.

I'm pretty sure I have a set of Gen II Goodyears. I ran 37 front 38 rear per manual. My SA recommended it as well. I have tons of potholes and examined the tires and wheels after they were taken off and winters were installed. No problems.

I've been watching this like a hawk--and so far no problems. I don't expect problems from my Dunlop snows.

I have 19s. No problems whatsoever and I have gone over some potholes.

I've had a bubble on my 18s. After hitting a bad pot hole I knew it would lead to a bubble. Luckily it was 11 months into owning the car and the road hazard warranty was in effect.

My 2012 ls2 had no bubbles 4k miles in. One tire did pop from running through a pop hole in the bqe. It was a pretty deep pothole in the tires defense. Other than that, they held up pretty well.

15000+ miles on my 2012 535Xi--19 ' tires....NE roads...no problem so far..
