Extended Warranty Bought

Guys, finally got the extended warranty and got a great deal, got it from Carhex..the platinum plan, 4 years 50k miles and paid 3,900$

That's a good deal I think...they cover pretty close to everything including navigation.

Let me know your thoughts and opinions I'll also give the name of the guy who signed me up and answer questions.

dsaautocustomz 11-26-2012 03:11 PM

Will not cover coolant pipe. Also will only cover up to the low blue book at time of repair. I have had the same carcheck policy that you got and canceled it after 3 months, they were very fair and returned 80% of what I had paid into them.

Also, carcheck is just a retail outlet that sells for the underwriter, nothing is paid by them at time of repair.

I just could not see spending 50% of what blue book is on these cars at the time of purchase. I have had to shell out money on repairs on my car but everything I have replaced would have not been covered anyway.

My 2 cents

cmpcpro 11-26-2012 11:19 PM

Yeah, I feel the same way, but you never know.. OP could go the next 50k with no problems and waste the whole thing.. statistically that is what will happen, but with these cars there is a very good chance you will get your money worth out of that slip.

ISIS27 11-26-2012 11:34 PM

I got a warranty through them as well, they sold an Alpha warranty to me, 2 years ago I paid $4200 5year 100k full bumper to bumper. but you still need to be careful, I just used mine for the first time. They covered a New ASK (make sure you get the extra radio and Navi protection, if not it only covers upto $300 for radio or navi and you know very well its a lot more then that) they replaced both control arms, pressure switch, and the steering angle sensor. Out of pocket cost $0 .. I also bought the $0 deductible option. The peace of mind alone makes it worth it.

Captpola 11-27-2012 07:38 AM

How much extra was the radio an nav protection, also, how much was the 0 deductible protection?

ISIS27 11-27-2012 07:45 AM

I wanna say for both the radio option and the 0 deductible was maybe 500. Then there was a wear an tear option I got to which basically covered any of the covered parts that was not faulty but on it way to possibly being faulty that was another 200 maybe Either way the total, after reviewing came out to $4400 not $4200. Still a really good deal. Still have 3 year or 32k which ever comes first.

Hey dude do you have the contact information for this company? I'm interested in a similar policy that you have.. Any down sides that you have experienced?

ISIS27 11-30-2012 10:58 AM

No downsides at All yet, I was a bit scared when I called in my first claim in 2 years, but they have taken care of everything so far I just prob got like $5k of work out of it already. Alpha warranty 800.662.5519

Sweet we're you able to take it to your shop of preference? Or did they have a network of repair shops?

Captpola 11-30-2012 11:11 AM

Ask what they value your car before you buy. They will give you the exact $$ amount. Mine was valued at 17,000 on a 02 745 Li. So in my case it is a great buy.

chrisrees 12-01-2012 08:37 AM

Btw this sounds like a commercial.

ISIS27 12-02-2012 03:59 AM

I thought the same thing when I added my 2 cents.. Lol

Alan: could you please verify who is the true extended warranty company for your policy? If I understood it correctly, Carchex is just a broker who acts as a middle man to sell your extended warranty through companies such as Enterprise Financial Group.

Two other questions: what was the "wait period" on your contract if you don't mind sharing that information? Did they ask you to do an initial inspection or diagnosis?

Thanks in advance!

I just purchased an extended warranty from AAautoprotection.com. Once again, a broker ... I really ended up with Interstate National Dealer Services. I have the XtraSupreme option for $2930. I purchased the vehicle last Wednesday from a guy in Ohio. It had 193K. They cover me to 294K or 5 years. There are exclusions. Actually, my coverage hasn't started yet because I have yet to own it for 30 days nor have I driven 1000 miles. I live in NY & plan to visit my family in VA so the miles will be put on. Carfax looked good (2 owners) & the car drove like a dream. I see that the max price that they cover is low for our cars. If I get 3 rejections in a row, then I'm canceling because financially, it won't be in my favor.

P.S. I know you guys are probably looking down on me because of the mileage but, I can't lie, I wanted to be a part of the fold. The 2002 745i has options that still rival some 2013 models today. Besides I got a great deal. The owner was rich & owned an Mercedes SL & an M5 & just wanted the 7 off of his circular driveway.
