I am little confused about the benefits and when to use DTC. Me, being a little slow, would someone explain this to me? For example, coming down from skiing yesterday, on not too slick of conditions, I had the back end start to come around on me. Or is it only of benefits going forward.

were you using dtc at the time?

If you have the stock Bridgestone all season tires then that was your problem. They are terrible in the snow.

DTC should be turned off when on snow and ice.

Not sure if it was a dtc issue as it wasn't clear dtc was on.

DTC allows some wheel spin, i.e. it's slightly less intrusive compared to default traction/stability control system. Among other things, it's supposed to be specifically for snow/ice, where you as a driver want to have a bit more control, primarily over acceleration.

Now, whether someone likes it or prefers it or knows what he's doing is another issue...
