door panels..
Just got an email from the guy I bought my door panels from..they were returned by usps, damaged during shipment. The passenger front was cracked in half..the others had holes punched in them, tears everywhere..
Anyways..Anyone know someone with dove grey front door panels? I've tried other forums, ebay, craigslist, scap yards..I'm at a loss. About to say **** it and just go this route.. http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum....php?t=1919473 |
That sux.
Those prices though are halfway to the cost of www.Allsherinteriors.com panels though. Besides, if you're going to paint them, does it REALLY matter if the aluminum is 'grain-cut'? |
I've heard mixed reviews about allsher refurb work..supposedly it still bubbles :dunno:
Anyways, if I were to get those I'd have them anodized, not painted. My cars not going to be at the track more than a few times a year though..seems kind of wasteful. Just getting fed up with trying to source these panels.. |

Oh really? :eeps:
..they might be getting some business very soon.. Do they reupholster everything, or just the inserts? |
What the hell did they do to the package to cause that kind of damage! :yikes:

The entire door panel, including the insert, front and rear, but only coupe/cabrio panels.

Well....after doing a Google search for reviews, maybe they aren't who you want to deal with. The reviews are few, but universally bad. Maybe because the satisfied people didn't post reviews (??), since there was a 'group buy' in 2011 and ten signed up, only one posted a review, but for $1k+ you'd better get top quality work that lasts forever. The really troubling part is that no one seems to be able to contact them these days. :(
|
Which is odd, because they just had that piece written about them a few months back in Roundel. You'd think getting that kind of publicity in the BMW circle would only boost their business, and subsequently boost their presence.
|
Right up until a small business gets over inundated with requests. SO much so that they cannot keep up, or are 'forced' to make sacrifices in quality to meet demand.
|
If I see a two door "parts car" with perfect panels being sold for less than $1k it sounds like it'd be worth it to buy it solely for those?
|
You'd more than likely get the $1k back through parting out the remainder, yes.
|
I'll keep an eye on the parts cars around here then!
