Factory Codes

Hi, I just purchased a OBC scanner from Bavaria Technics. The software worked great although I can not match their codes. They claim they use factory fault codes that can be found in service manuals. I am either blind or they are not posted in the manuals. So please please please if anyone knows where I can find factory codes I would appreciate highly. THe codes generated from BT's software are not preceeded with any letter (P's, B's or C's.). BT was no help at all regarding their codes.

Thanks for the info, unfortunately this are not the ones. According to BT they do not use OBDC's codes. They pull the actual codes BMW factory uses. Problem here is that there is no resources to refer the codes to. The software worked but I would not reccomend it to anyone outside a BMW shop.

what do the code numbers look like?

my code reader does not generate the "P" codes but decimal codes like these

The codes are 1-3 digit numeric codes. So far I have seen 38, 64, 203, 204, 3 and one alpha numeric 0008c.

White_Lancer you actually threw me in the right direction. It seems as though the codes BT produces are in decimal format. The issue I have is that I do not have any engine or emissions faults to make reference to. It is also important that I match up the engine types which I don't believe I was doing. I can't find to many resources for the E53 seems, as the majority of Bimmer lovers drive the E46 or E39. So if any one can lead me in the right path to find B and C codes for the E53 it would help a lot.

You will also need to know what version of DME you have as the decimal codes are different for the various revisions. My BMW X5 2002 E53 4.4i with an M62 engine uses DME 7.2
