One-on-one with the Nurburgring in an E36 M3

Just wanted to share my experience at the Nurburgring, driving a full-prepped M3... on street tires.

Here's the article:

If you have any questions about making a trip to the 'Ring please fire away.

And if you like my article, please like my Facebook page. All I post is car-related stuff that you guys would hopefully find interesting :) www.facebook.com/traveldriverace

Thanks for sharing! Looks like a fun car and experience. Not having a helmet would've made me nervous, too.

Also, your driving instructor would slap your wrist pretty hard for this photo. ;)

True about my hand positioning. Although in fairness that was just on the drive from the car rental place to the track and we were only going about 30 km/h! :)

Wish I could take Cassie out there :/

Yeah, I figured. I was just messin' with ya. What car(s) have you auto-x'd in the past, and how did the E36 compare?

I've autocrossed 240sx's and my Impreza and since writing that I've now taken the Impreza, a Miata and a 240sx race car on road courses. From a handling perspective the E36 was probably the best, in my opinion, better than the Miata. I like the way my Impreza handles more than the Miata though. My dad also had an E36 325is in street trim obviously and it was just night and day between that and the M3 race car. If only it had better tires...

We picked the M3 because we didn't want to get into too much trouble. We didn't want a high-horsepower RWD monster for our first experience on that track. In the end, the nimble M3 was great.
