Curb Rash repair
 

So a friend drove my 550 and now 3 wheels have curb rash, the wheels aren't bent and the curb rash is fairly minimal but I need to get it fixed (yes my ex-friend is paying).

I have wheel and tire insurance but curb rash is not covered and the dealer wants $225 per wheel to repair it which seems excessive to me.

Do any of you guys know a good wheel repair co. on Long Island, NY or is $225 a reasonable rate?

225 per wheel???!! That is not reasonable! When I was returning my 335 I had to have 2 wheels repaired and it was $80 per wheel. Granted I did not have it done at a dealership and I found some local wheel repair place and the wheels came out great.

If you want your wheels done to a factory standard I recommend wheels America. However they remove the wheels, strip the wheels, refinish them and bake them in an oven. It takes 24 hours.

Al's hubcaps in Mineola. Did a great job after Mavis scratched my wheel while plugging my tire. Should be about $80. Call to get a rate.

Call Artie at 631 220 5553. He will come to youin his truck and do it right there. He does the repairs for 3 of the BMW dealers on the north shore. He charges $125 but you can probably get $300 for 3.

Which thief, I mean dealer quoted you $220 ?

Thanks guys I'll make the calls tomorrow, obviously my dealer (the really large one that begins with "R") is overcharging.

Rallye is the worst set of dealerships ever.

I actually met a SA who used to work at Rallye and he told me the pressure the dealer put on them to write more $$. He said they were unethical. It's not uncommon though, most of them will do whatever they can to maximize their commission - yes, they are on commission. My experience with Rallye is they think of it as their right to make money off you. I got my MB oil change done for $110 at my local guy and they actually had the audacity to call me out on it even though they wanted $190.

There's a shop up in New Rochelle (Off 95) called Proformance Industries http://www.proformanceindustries.com/ , I had all 4 or my style 5's straightened there and they also do wheel repairs and refinishing. I have no idea what it will cost but if you call them the should be able to at least give you a quote. I seem to recall the straightening was around $100 per wheel, plus other fees like mounting but not that much. There are also plenty of places over by Citi Field and in the Bronx along Bruckner Blvd that are cheap but are probably questionable in terms of quality.

All they do is buff it out with a dremel, smooth it out then color match it. I saw them do that here in houston once.

Hopefully they do a better job and repaint the whole thing so there isn't any discoloration on the remainder of the wheel.
At least that's what they did with mine.

Thanks guys, I went with Fix Rims which used to be called Wheels America for $135 per wheel, way less than the dealer.

They are coming to my house late in the afternoon, putting my car on jack stands and doing the work overnight.
